Bangladesh launches three-month nationwide campaign to prevent dengue fever

The Government of Bangladesh has launched a three-month campaign aimed at preventing the mosquito-borne disease during its peak activity period.

The national campaign was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, in Dhaka on Saturday. The campaign promotes the slogans 'Maintain cleanliness in your surroundings so that we can all be healthy' and 'Eliminate stagnant water daily.'

Furthermore, this initiative is designed to strengthen cooperation between government bodies, the private sector, and community projects. The campaign will run from September 12 to December 12, with activities coordinated at the city, division, district, and sub-district levels.

Tens of thousands of volunteers will participate in this nationwide awareness and cleanliness drive. This campaign started against the backdrop of an increase in dengue cases in Dhaka and other regions, as 50,276 infections and 143 deaths from dengue fever were recorded in Bangladesh this year.
