10th Creative Week transforms Tiradentes into a circuit of Brazilian art, design, and culture

From October 15 to 18, Tiradentes once again transforms into a major hub for design, art, crafts, gastronomy, and national culture with the realization of the 10th Creative Week of Tiradentes. This event will spread its programming across 22 locations distributed in 17 addresses in the city, using historic mansions and other urban points to host exhibitions, shops, workshops, lectures, meetings, and artistic interventions.

This year's edition will feature the participation of over 80 speakers and is expected to surpass the 200 activities held in the previous edition. Among the confirmed participants are visual artist Thiago Rocha Pitta, confectioner Lucas Corazza, future thinker Andrea Bisker, architect Lígia Agostini, bamboo artist Marcelo Maia, fashion and biomaterials researcher Tainah Fagundes, social urbanist Ester Carro, quilombola designer Dih Morais, and data scientist Zaika dos Santos. Furthermore, debates with the Dumont Family and actor Luis Melo are planned.

Local artist Vinicius Rosa Rios has been chosen as the honoree for this edition. The release of the complete event schedule will occur on October 5. A central aspect of the Week is encouraging the public to explore Tiradentes, allowing them to move between exhibitions, workshops, artisanal design shops, and conversations, discovering various expressions of Brazilian culture.

Creative House

One of the main focuses of the festival is the Creative House, installed in a historic mansion. This space serves both to display works resulting from the collaboration between Brazilian artisans and designers and as a shop dedicated to original design. The agenda includes lectures, discussions on sustainability, and workshops, such as the traditional Agulhaço, focused on embroidery.

Casa Pará

Amazonian culture gains prominence at Casa Pará, where designers and artisans from the North exhibit works that combine traditional techniques with contemporary design. Visitors can view collaborative design collections made with miriti, handmade craft exhibitions, and artistic interventions accompanied by tecnobrega. The program also includes gastronomic experiences inspired by the region.

Casa Mata Atlântica

At Casa Mata Atlântica, the focus is on the meeting of crafts, literature, and gastronomy, dedicating itself to creations linked to the Atlantic Forest biome. This location brings together small producers and projects that use forest inputs and techniques associated with their places of origin.

Casa Arado

For those interested in Brazilian rural culture, Casa Arado offers an environment dedicated to the 'caipira' imagination. Located in a historic mansion, it functions as a vintage graphic art gallery and concept store. It features posters, engravings, stationery items, and artisanal grocery products, reviving visual references and objects linked to the rural universe.

Contemporary design from Ceará also participates in the event in Tiradentes, presenting pieces that blend traditional craftsmanship with furniture creation. This space exhibits works by names such as Érico Gondim and Leo Ferreiro, exploring materials like straw and clay, in addition to references from Cearense popular culture.

A novelty of the tenth edition is the presence at Casa D’Preto, in Casarão Ramalho, the headquarters of Iphan. Under the curation of architects and urbanists Pedro Rubens and Heloisa Nascimento, this space centralizes knowledge, techniques, and productions of African matrix. Featured is the Orí-gem exhibition, with works by artists such as Bruno Henrique de Souza, Hudson Silveira, Selma Maria, and Elizabeth Ramos. The venue will also host the I National Meeting of HUB Arquitetura D’Preto, bringing together representatives from 16 Brazilian states and Lisbon, as well as the launch of the Plataforma Arquitetura D’Preto, which aims to connect clients with Black professionals in civil construction. The documentary A Casa D’Preto, directed by Daniel Pereira and Tainara Matos, will also be screened.

Casa Rio

Another debut is Casa Rio, a concept space conceived by Didi Maakaröun, from Conceito MAADI, and Vivi Baldeija, from Capivara do Vale. Its proposal is to offer a modern view of Fluminense culture through original design, art, and crafts.

The market also gains a new point of sale with Villa da Matriz, where brands, artisans, and small producers from various regions of Brazil exhibit self-produced pieces, providing purchasing opportunities during the festival.

In addition to the four days in October, the Creative Week School maintains meetings and immersions throughout the year, connecting designers, architects, and artisans from the region. This initiative seeks to disseminate techniques and knowledge, expanding the festival's impact on the Tiradentes community beyond the visiting period.
