Chinese city of Yichun sets Guinness World Record by serving 2500 portions of traditional dish

The city of Yichun, located in Heilongjiang Province, has set a new Guinness World Record by managing to serve 2500 portions of a traditional dish in just one hour.

The competition, which took place on September 10th in Jizhong Square, involved serving 2500 portions of shazhu cai—a traditional dish made from pork and sauerkraut—within 60 minutes.

The main goal of this event was to popularize the flavors and folkloric heritage of the traditional cuisine of Northeast China. Shazhu cai is a hot stew containing almost all parts of the pig, cooked with sauerkraut, noodles, and tofu.

The dish was prepared in a special steel cauldron designated for the event, which had a diameter of 4.2 meters and a capacity of three tons, according to reports from the Chinese press.

The competition process was monitored by a Guinness World Records official, who officially confirmed the city's achievement of the new record.

Alongside the tasting, local residents were presented with traditional artistic performances, and prize giveaways and quizzes were held.
