Record achievements reached in the development of thermal power plant and renewable energy infrastructure in Iran

A representative of the energy industry reported unprecedented achievements in the development of power plant infrastructure and a fourfold increase in renewable energy capacity under the fourteenth government.

According to an IRNA report, Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi stated this on Saturday at a meeting of the policy-making council for the '25 Degrees, Pact of Compassion' campaign. He noted that managing the energy system, which is over 23 years old and serves 42 million subscribers across Iran, is an extremely complex task. The complexity and sensitivity of this system are doubled amid imbalances in supply and demand, as well as the war, but young and experienced specialists in the control room prevented network instability through full awareness.

Describing the impressive statistics achieved during the fourteenth government, he added that the capacity of renewable power plants has grown from 1250 megawatts to 6000 megawatts, indicating a growth of more than four times.

Rajabi Mashhadi also emphasized that the thermal power plant sector set a new record this year: a new capacity of 3000 megawatts was commissioned, including 2450 megawatts of steam units and 500 megawatts of other units. According to the industry representative, the steam units ensure more optimal fuel supply, which will directly impact fuel consumption management in the country.

Regarding the development of transmission and superdistribution networks, Rajabi Mashhadi announced the construction of 80 superdistribution and transmission substations despite serious foreign currency restrictions and financial difficulties in the country, calling it a brilliant achievement for the energy industry. Furthermore, the level of 'smart' network management has doubled during this period, indicating precise prioritization in improving efficiency and reducing losses.

Addressing the upcoming challenges of the winter season, he noted that although Iran's energy system successfully navigated the summer, precise plans have been developed for winter, including ensuring fuel supply to power plants. The energy industry representative expressed hope that with the same cooperation and compassion shown by people in the summer, the winter will pass successfully, and any potential gas shortage will be managed through competent management.
