For the first time, 'Vande Mataram' was played before the anthem at an India vs. Afghanistan cricket match

Delhi Police issues new traffic warning ahead of India vs Afghanistan match due to expected congestion

New traffic information has been released by the Delhi Police ahead of the first T20 match between India and Afghanistan, scheduled for Sunday, September 13th. The match will take place at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Since the second and final day of the BRICS summit will also be held in Delhi on Sunday, significant congestion is anticipated on many central city streets. To prevent inconvenience for residents, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a special warning.

According to the Traffic Police data, from 14:00 to 23:45 on Sunday, traffic movement will be controlled around the stadium and along several routes in Central Delhi, and traffic diversions will occur in multiple locations.

In accordance with the traffic warning, residents are advised to refrain from traveling on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Din Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Marg, and towards Mirdar Dhaak.

Furthermore, considering the traffic situation, entry of heavy goods vehicles is completely prohibited on certain key sections of Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, and DDU Marg.

The Traffic Police has appealed to the public to avoid the streets surrounding the stadium. If passage through these areas is unavoidable, it is advised to leave home with ample time and use alternative routes to avoid traffic jams.

It should be noted that due to heightened security measures related to the BRICS summit, the Delhi police had previously requested a postponement of the match date. However, the DDCA confirmed that the match will proceed according to the original schedule. This match is the first of three games in the series between India and Afghanistan; the remaining two matches will also be held at the same stadium on September 15th and 17th.
