ABVP released its manifesto for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections on Sunday. This document includes several important promises for students, with key focuses on accommodation, women's safety, educational improvement, and career assistance.
ABVP claims that its manifesto is based on its four core principles—'A-Accommodation', 'B-Participation', 'V-Trust', and 'P-Performance'. Under this, it demands greater student participation in university decisions. ABVP has also announced its candidates: Yash Dabas for President, Ishu Maurya for Vice President, Riya Chhawdi for Secretary, and Lakshya Raj Singh as Joint Secretary.
Safe and affordable housing has been given top priority in the manifesto. The RSS-backed organization has proposed new hostels, advanced facilities for female students, a dedicated cell for student housing, a helpline service, and security audits of PG accommodations and hostels. These proposals were added in light of the recent Satya Niketan incident.
Additionally, the manifesto stresses the need to strictly enforce fire safety standards, as well as improve basic amenities such as cleanliness, drinking water supply, and internet connectivity.
Regarding women's safety, ABVP has promised facilities like pink booths, better lighting, deployment of adequate female security personnel, common rooms, and sanitary napkin vending machines. The organization has also proposed strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms and internal complaint committees.
For career support, the manifesto promises job fairs, collaboration with industry and research institutions, training, internships, and organizing programs on AI and digital skills. Yash Dabas, the candidate for President, stated in this regard that he will continue to raise the issue of safe student housing. It is noteworthy that the DUSU elections are scheduled for September 18.
