Muradjon Yuldoshev from Uzbekistan won a bronze medal in the under 81 kg category at the Hungary Grand Slam 2026 tournament held in Budapest.
In the bronze medal match, Yuldoshev faced Vasilije Grujicic from Serbia. The Uzbek judoka managed to reach the podium by scoring two yuko points: first using the O-uchi-gari technique, and then using the Ko-uchi-gari technique.
In another bronze medal match, the winner, Vusal Galandarzade from Azerbaijan, defeated Nache Herkovic from Slovenia. Galandarzade's victory was achieved after earning a waza-ari with the Seoi-otoshi technique.
In the under 81 kg category, Yoshito Hojo from Japan won gold, defeating Mihailo Simin from Serbia in the final. This bout required overtime to determine the winner.
Hojo remained calm, containing his opponent's attacks and forcing him to receive a third warning. After Simin received the third penalty, the victory was awarded to the Japanese judoka.
Simin, who is 21 years old, had previously won bronze medals at the 2026 European Championships, as well as at Grand Slam tournaments in Tbilisi and Ulaanbaatar. In 2025, the Serbian athlete won his first Grand Prix title in Lima and secured a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships.
After his victory, Hojo noted that he had not participated in international competitions for a long time and was especially happy to win gold. According to the Japanese judoka, the decisive factor was his readiness to attack continuously and avoid pauses.
The final medal table in the under 81 kg category was as follows: Yoshito Hojo (Japan) — gold; Mihailo Simin (Serbia) — silver; Muradjon Yuldoshev (Uzbekistan) and Vusal Galandarzade (Azerbaijan) — bronze.
