Observing the game during the series against England, former wicketkeeper for the Indian team and current commentator Dinesh Karthik voiced his criticism towards the Pakistan team. He shared a video on social media, raising several questions regarding the team's play and its selection process.
Dinesh Karthik noted that the Pakistan team's performance on the field was quite mediocre. He wryly observed that in the first two Tests, the players had not bowled more than ninety overs combined across both matches. Although he acknowledged that the pitches were somewhat challenging, he felt they were not so poor that the players could not last ninety overs.
Karthik believes that such a level of play is an insult to Test cricket. He supported former England captain Nasir Hussain, noting that after the team lost the series 0-2, seven changes were suddenly made to the squad, and the coaching staff was replaced. Although some fight was shown in the last match, it was too late by then.
Dinesh Karthik also criticized the management of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He expressed bewilderment, questioning why a player who showed such outstanding performance in the third and final match was not included in the squad from the beginning of the series. He questioned the selection process and the quality of the players being fielded.
Furthermore, Karthik pointed to the frequent changes in captains and coaches within the team, which, in his opinion, clearly indicates internal problems. He emphasized that the history of Pakistani cricket is rich with successes, but looking at the current team, it is impossible to believe that they can compete with any major Test team. Karthik expressed hope that the responsible authorities would pay attention to this situation and take decisive steps to return the team to the right path.
