Iranian Universities and UKM Malaysia Discuss Joint High-Tech Projects

Higher education institutions in Iran are ready to begin joint technology projects with the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and clean energy, an Iranian scientific attaché in Asia reported during a visit to the Malaysian university.

Alireza Tavakkolpour, Iran's scientific attaché and acting head of student affairs for East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, made these statements. He presented Iran's latest achievements and innovations in mechatronics and advanced thermoacoustic systems at a specialized meeting with representatives from UKM.

The meeting took place on Sunday at the invitation of senior officials from the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at UKM. Participants discussed opportunities to expand scientific cooperation, implement joint technological projects, and promote academic exchange, according to IRNA.

The meeting included the deputy dean of the faculty, heads of international relations and industrial cooperation departments, as well as the second advisor on public diplomacy at the Iranian embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Participants examined potential areas of synergy between leading Iranian universities and UKM, which ranks 130th globally, through rapid memorandums of understanding.

Tavakkolpour outlined the tripartite mission of the Iranian scientific attaché offices, defined by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the need to enhance bilateral scientific cooperation.

Referencing successful collaborations with Iranian universities, including Shiraz University of Technology and Amirkabir University, he demonstrated his team's research successes and innovations in mechatronics, robotics, aerodynamic tube technology, and the development of nonlinear oscillators.

He also presented advanced thermoacoustic systems as a new generation of heat engines without moving parts. Their ability to directly convert clean and renewable energy sources, such as palm oil waste and solar energy, into electricity was noted, and joint research in this area was proposed.
