The Iranian national football team will play friendly matches against Uzbekistan and Russia as part of the upcoming FIFA international window in September. These games are part of the team's preparation for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Iranian National Team to Play Friendly Matches Against Uzbekistan and Russia
The Team Melli training camp will officially begin on September 16th at the National Football Center. Players will then leave Tehran on September 22nd, heading to the Uzbek city of Fergana.
Iran will face Uzbekistan in a friendly match on September 24th. After this game, the Iranian team will travel to Kazan, Russia, on September 26th.
The second friendly match is scheduled for September 29th against Russia.
Preparation for the Asian Cup
These two matches will provide Amir Ghalenoei with an important opportunity to assess the squad and refine preparations before the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. Iran enters the continental tournament with high expectations, as Ghalenoei continues to build a team capable of challenging for the Asian title for the fourth time.
Iran is placed in Group C alongside Syria, China, and Kyrgyzstan. The Persians will start their campaign on January 9th against China.
