According to a Reuters report, Ukraine's military expenditures this year have approached $190 million daily.
The Parliamentary Budget Committee stated that Ukraine cannot fully finance its defense spending through domestic resources. This was stated by Roxolana Pidlasa at the YES conference in Kyiv.
According to Pidlasa, in the first eight months of this year, Ukraine spent nearly $42 billion on defense, excluding free military aid. Domestic revenues and internal loans amounted to $39 billion.
Pidlasa noted: 'Unfortunately, the war has become so expensive that we cannot even cover our share.'
The daily cost of the war has increased from approximately $140 million in 2024 to about $190 million this year. This increase is due to inflation, an increase in troop numbers, social payments, and medical expenses.
Over eight months, domestic budget revenues were $1.35 billion below planned figures.
Economy Minister Oleksandr Kravchenko named factors pressuring the economy, including Russian strikes and restrictions on export opportunities through Black Sea ports. According to his estimates, damage to infrastructure and fixed assets has reached almost $10 billion, and export revenue of $40 billion is under threat.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reports that strikes are aimed at military industrial facilities, as well as port and transport infrastructure used for transporting military cargo.
The Ukrainian government is considering reducing or postponing non-military expenditures to cover the defense deficit. Kyiv is negotiating with Western partners for financial assistance, but no quick solution has been found so far.
