The wait for candidates preparing for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC CGL) has ended, as the commission has released the official schedule for the Tier-1 examination. For those who have been preparing for a long time, it is now time to finalize their preparations. According to the notice issued by the commission, the Tier-1 exam will be conducted between September 30 and October 30. This exam will be held at various centers across the country and will be entirely a computer-based online test. Since this exam will run for at least one month, knowing only the dates is not enough; understanding the many changes made to the exam is also essential.
Despite the announcement of the exam dates, information regarding when the admit cards will be released is not yet available. However, based on past trends of SSC, the city and shift details are usually provided about a week before the exam, while admit cards are typically released three to four days in advance.
As per the issued notification, the commission has decided to implement several new rules with the aim of making the examination pattern more transparent and fair. The most significant change is the introduction of sectional timing. Previously, candidates were given a concession of 60 minutes to solve 100 questions, but this facility has now been removed. A fixed time will be allocated to solve each section, with only 15 minutes allotted for Reasoning, General Awareness, Mathematics, and English. The relevant section will automatically close once the time expires.
Additionally, Paper-III has been added to Tier-2 for candidates applying for posts such as Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer. The final merit list for these specific posts will be prepared by combining the scores from both Paper and Paper-III of Tier-2. Under security measures, OTR and OTP verification has been made mandatory for assistants accompanying differently-abled candidates to prevent any form of cheating in the examination.
