The Iranian national basketball team defeated Jordan with a score of 81:68 in the final match of Group B at the 2026 Asian Games in Haiti and Nagoya, which took place on Sunday.
The game was held at the International Arena of Haiti. In the match, Mohammad Jamshidi demonstrated his power, scoring 30 points and 4 assists. Matin Aghadjanjour also contributed to the game, earning 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Jordanian team fought hard: Dar Tucker scored 19 points and 2 rebounds, and Freddy Ibrahim scored 14 points and 7 rebounds; however, they lost and finished third in Group B.
The Iranian team survived an unexpected defeat in the first round against Qatar but managed to exit the 'Group of Death' by taking first place thanks to victories over Taiwan and Jordan.
Meanwhile, Taiwan also secured a spot in the quarterfinals by defeating Qatar with a score of 91:69 in the final match. Although Taiwan tied the score with Iran 2:1, it finished second according to the principle that the winner is awarded an advantage.
