Manipal Hospitals explores acquisition opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi-NCR, and other regions

Manipal Health Enterprises Ltd is actively considering strategic opportunities to expand its presence in various states, including Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. The company plans to selectively deepen its presence in the identified markets.

Furthermore, Manipal Hospitals continues to evaluate inorganic growth opportunities in the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa, including the Mumbai-Pune economic corridor, as well as in Eastern India covering West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Sikkim.

A key part of future infrastructure is the 'green field' project in Juhu, Mumbai. The group recently completed the purchase of the remaining land and building for this project for a total sum of 495 crore rupees, of which 130 crore rupees is subject to payment upon fulfillment of certain conditions.

In the technology sphere, the company is implementing a unified Hospital Information System (HIS) to connect clinical, diagnostic, and administrative processes across its entire network. Future investments are directed towards patient wireless monitoring platforms and nurse shift handover using Artificial Intelligence (AI), which has already been launched in 24 hospitals.

The group is also automating call center operations with AI-based chatbots, voice, and omnichannel assistants to manage triage requests and appointment bookings.

Dilip Jose, Managing Director and CEO, stated that the next phase of Manipal Hospitals' development will be determined not only by increasing capacity but also by the effective utilization of collective strengths in personnel, clinical expertise, technological platforms, and an integrated network.

The company's clinical strategy focuses on a cluster of six complex specialties called 'CONGO-R', which includes cardiology, oncology, neurology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, and nephrology. These specialties accounted for 64.3 percent of gross revenue from inpatient treatment in the fiscal year 2025-26.

To support this strategy, the group is investing in advanced medical infrastructure such as robotic surgical systems, linear accelerators, and PET-CT scanners.

This growth followed strong financial performance in the 2025-26 fiscal year: operating revenue increased by 25.4 percent to 10,336 crore rupees, and the EBITDA margin stood at 2,644 crore rupees. This year marked the successful integration of Sahyadri Hospitals in Maharashtra and Medica Synergie in Eastern India.

Regarding long-term capacity plans, the group intends to add approximately 2,426 licensed beds by 2030, of which 483 will be 'brownfield' and 1,943 will be 'greenfield'. As of March 31, 2026, the network comprised 49 hospitals and 13,037 licensed beds across 14 states and territories, serving over 76 lakh patients annually.

The company reported that more than 5,500 beds were added between 2020-21 and 2025-26. The annual report notes that 'this was the leading consolidator among private hospital chains in India for bed additions.'

Jose added that 'we are entering the next phase with a larger and more integrated platform, clear execution priorities, and a constant commitment to remain a reliable brand providing quality healthcare.'
