Apple starts pre-booking for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in India; sales to begin on September 18

Apple's next major event is scheduled for September 9. While there is active discussion surrounding the new iPhone models, public attention is also drawn to another point: whether Tim Cook himself will present the iPhone 18 Pro on stage. The answer to this question is ambiguous.

Significant changes have recently occurred within Apple. Tim Cook no longer holds the position of company CEO. Effective September 1, 2026, John Ternus assumed the duties of Apple's new CEO, while Tim Cook now serves as Executive Chairman.

Consequently, the Apple event on September 9 promises to be special. According to reports, Tim Cook will be present at the event, but he will not play a leading role during the presentation (Keynote). It is likely that the new Apple CEO, John Ternus, will take charge of the iPhone 18 Pro launch.

This change is significant because Tim Cook led Apple for approximately fifteen years, during which time the company released numerous major products and iPhone models. Until recently, Tim Cook's appearance at all major Apple events was commonplace. Now, observing John Ternus in this role will mark the beginning of a new era at Apple.

Now, regarding the highly anticipated phone. At this event, Apple may introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Additionally, the company might showcase its first foldable iPhone. However, it is reported that the standard iPhone 18 may be released later.

The iPhone 18 Pro may also feature substantial upgrades. The implementation of a variable aperture function in the phone's camera is expected, allowing for more effective control over light entering the lens. Furthermore, improvements such as the A20 Pro chipset, new color options, and an increased battery are possible.

Major design changes to the phone are unlikely. However, there are reports that the Dynamic Island may become smaller than it is currently.

As for the cost, buyers will likely have to pay a bit more. According to reports, the price of the iPhone 18 Pro could increase by approximately $100. There are also rumors that the foldable iPhone may launch at a price of around $2299.

Apple is preparing to launch a new generation of iPhones, the details of which are expected to be revealed in less than a week. The main anticipated products include the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, which are expected to incorporate a new 2-nanometer chip and camera improvements, in addition to the debut of the company's first foldable iPhone.

The cameras will also receive updates. The sensors will maintain the rectangular arrangement, similar to the 17 Pro line, arranged in a triangular formation. An expected aesthetic highlight is the new Dark Cherry color, a dark red shade, which would join light blue and gray, as reported by Macworld. Apple would also have adjusted the back glass to eliminate the bicolor look present in the 17 Pro line.

The screens will continue to use LTPO OLED panels with ProMotion technology up to 120 Hz. The dimensions remain consistent with the iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3 inches for the iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max.

As for the top of the device, leaked images suggest a reduction in the size of the Dynamic Island. Rumors point to the possibility of integrating Face ID sensors under the screen. In any case, the known leaker Ice Universe estimates a decrease of approximately 35% in the space dedicated to front sensors.

The biggest innovation of this generation may be Apple's first foldable smartphone. This device, named iPhone Ultra, is expected to have a format similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but with a more elongated and smaller proportion compared to conventional foldables.

Among the foreseen specifications, while the 'premium' models will be launched this year, Apple plans to postpone part of the line until next year. The iPhones 18, 18e, and a possible iPhone Air 2 are scheduled for the first half of 2027.

Rumors indicate that the iPhone 18 will have 9 GB of RAM, a lower value than the 12 GB projected for the Pro models. The Air 2 should bring changes compared to its first iteration, including the possibility of a new concept launched the following year, perhaps called 'iPhone 20', replicating the commemorative launch of the iPhone X, and featuring a completely redesigned infinity edge display. Although prices have not yet been confirmed by Apple, estimates suggest an increase in the costs of the top models.
