Honda Cars India shows sales growth in August despite monthly decline

Honda Cars India has demonstrated an improvement in its position in the Indian market. Sales data analysis for August showed that the company delivered a total of 5385 units. Compared to August of last year, when 3850 units were delivered, the year-on-year sales growth was 40 percent.

Nevertheless, compared to the previous month, Honda sales decreased by 10 percent; 6014 units were sold in July 2026. The company's current portfolio includes the Amaze, Elevate, City, and ZR-V models. The growth in Honda's sales is largely attributed to the good results achieved by the Amaze model.

The Amaze is Honda's best-selling car. In August, 3512 units were sold, whereas only 1753 units were sold in the same month last year. This represents a 100 percent year-on-year sales increase. However, compared to July, the growth in August was only 2 percent, as 3436 Amaze cars were sold in July.

Sales of the Honda Elevate declined: 1326 units were sold in August, compared to 1660 units last year, indicating a 20 percent drop in year-on-year sales. Furthermore, 1949 Elevate units were sold in July, leading to a 32 percent month-on-month sales decrease. The Honda City model sold 514 units, and the ZR-V sold only 33 units. Both the latter two models are relatively new additions to the company: the Honda City was released with a refreshed exterior, and the ZR-V is the brand's flagship crossover, which arrives via the CBU (Complete Built Up Unit) route.

The Amaze is a Honda sedan with a length of less than four meters, directly competing in the market with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The starting price of this car is 7.65 lakh rupees including all taxes. The vehicle has a 5-star B-NCAP rating. It is equipped with a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine that generates 89 hp and 110 Nm of torque. Options are available with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed CVT. The claimed fuel consumption is 19.46 kilometers per liter. The car offers a luggage capacity of 416 liters and a ground clearance of 172 mm. The company also offers an option for CNG installation.
