FSSAI ordered recall of two food products due to non-compliance with standards

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued an order to recall two types of food products after testing revealed their non-compliance with established standards.

The recall orders concern the coriander powder 'Shalimar's Chef - Coriander Powder', manufactured by M/s Nilgiri Oil & Allied Industries, as well as 'Carrageenan', produced by M/s Aquagri Processing Pvt Ltd.

The sample of coriander powder was found unsatisfactory regarding pesticide residues. Subsequent testing confirmed that the sample did not meet the requirements and was deemed 'unsafe' under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006.

The sample of carrageenan was also found unsatisfactory due to food additives and did not meet standards. The laboratory reported that this sample is 'unsafe'. Both companies have been instructed to withdraw the products from the market in accordance with the Food Recalls Procedure Regulations of 2017.
