The Central Bank of Uzbekistan and the Financial Services and Treasury Bureau of Hong Kong (FSTB) signed a memorandum of understanding in Hong Kong on September 9, 2026. The document aims to develop interaction in the markets for gold and other precious metals, according to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
The signing of the memorandum took place concurrently with the 'One Belt, One Road' Summit 2026. The parties representing Uzbekistan were represented by Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Abror Mirzo Olimov, and from Hong Kong by Secretary for Financial Services and Treasury Christopher Hui.
Content of the Agreement
This memorandum provides for institutional cooperation, exchange of experience and knowledge, as well as the study of opportunities offered by modern financial infrastructure for precious metals markets.
The participants agreed to exchange experience in the field of developing gold and other precious metal markets, as well as related financial infrastructure. Furthermore, the document provides for the study of clearing and settlement mechanisms, as well as the expansion of practical cooperation between the parties.
