Iranian President Masoud Pejeschian, who arrived in India to participate in the BRICS summit, gave an exclusive interview to the publication 'Aaj Tak'. In conversation with Gita Mohan, the editor for foreign affairs at India Today Group, he sharply criticized the policy of the United States.
Pejeschian stated that one of the goals of BRICS is to counter the trend initiated by America, which allows it to unilaterally impose sanctions on any countries. In his opinion, the purpose of this summit involving major world powers such as China, India, and Russia is to eliminate this unilateral approach.
The Iranian President emphasized that the mission of BRICS is to resist American arbitrariness and unilateral decisions. He noted that BRICS member countries can support each other on many issues, including joint investments and mutual assistance.
Pejeschian also pointed out that America currently keeps all countries dependent on the US dollar. Therefore, constant efforts are being made to reduce and gradually eliminate this dependence on the American dollar, although he specified that achieving an ideal state will take time. He added that one of the tasks of the BRICS summit is to prevent the world from becoming unipolar.
Regarding relations with India, Masoud Pejeschian noted their continuous improvement and also mentioned the long-standing cultural ties between Iran and India. This trip to India was Pejeschian's first visit to a BRICS summit after assuming the presidency. The visit takes place against the backdrop of renewed attacks between the US and Iran following a brief pause in fighting that had continued for most of August.
