Actor Rohit Roy publicly expressed his strong opinion on two industries—television and Bollywood. Recalling his career path, he labeled television as 'junk media' and questioned the creativity and behavior of people working in the television sphere.
During a discussion on the Kindle Cast YouTube channel, when asked about the professionalism of the television industry, Rohit Roy noted that it has lost its artistic value. He stated: 'I am often asked this question, and sometimes I feel like I shouldn't be grateful. But television is 'junk media'. You watch it today, and tomorrow it becomes like yesterday's newspaper. Tomorrow you will forget it. Therefore, unfortunately, in India, the amount and type of content created has very little creativity.'
He added that while shows like 'Swabhimaan' are still remembered, many of his other projects have been forgotten by viewers.
Rohit Roy also commented on the differences between Bollywood and television actors. He observed: 'Honestly, television actors do not have the style or glamour that film actors possess. When you see a film actor in public, you see how they carry themselves, especially if they are a star. Of course, everyone pretends, but this pretense is graceful, worthy, stylish, and cool.'
Furthermore, continuing his thought, Rohit Roy drew attention to the manners of television actors: 'Look at television actor gatherings and pay attention to their behavior. You will get an answer. One must behave with a certain dignity and elegance. You cannot make noise or say foolish things because you know paparazzi are present. Also look at how they dress.'
When the host suggested that Rohit might have formed his view on the differences between the two media himself, the actor maintained his opinion, calling cinema 'what is meant for future generations' and once again labeling television as 'junk media.' He compared this difference to playing cricket for India versus representing a state in the Ranji tournament.
