Representatives of the Uzbek agency Uzbekcosmos participated in the first International Space Summit, held on September 9–10 at Grand Palais near Paris, initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The summit gathered delegations from 90 countries and international organizations, about 60 high-ranking government officials, over a thousand space companies, and 19 astronauts from 14 different nations.
During the event, Uzbekcosmos representatives conducted a series of meetings and discussions. The main focus was on exchanging best practices, identifying new areas of cooperation, and studying promising projects in the space industry.
High-profile participants included Rwandan President Paul Kagame, Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission Executive Vice-Presidents Hanna Birkkunen and Stéphane Séjourné, as well as EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius.
On the first day of the summit, Emmanuel Macron, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Petr Fiala, and other officials delivered speeches. Their addresses covered the development of the space sector, international cooperation, space security, and Europe's strategic priorities. A round table with astronauts also took place, attended by the French President.
The official program for the second day included speeches by Emmanuel Macron and Ursula von der Leyen. The program also featured a live broadcast from a Low Earth Orbit Station with French astronaut Sophie Adenot and a presentation from the European Space Agency.
The summit organized round tables dedicated to the development of the space sector amid global changes, issues of space security, and future space infrastructure. A separate discussion focused on the views of African leaders regarding the development of the space sphere.
Panel discussions were also held on topics such as the global space economy, security and cooperation, as well as science and research. A discussion on the transformation of historical space organizations in the context of industry changes took place with the participation of ESA Director General Josef Asbachner.
The summit attracted the attention of 19 astronauts from 14 countries, including French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, Italian astronauts Samantha Cristoforetti and Luca Parmitano, German astronauts Alexander Gerst and Matthias Maurer, UAE astronaut Sultan Al Naeadi, and Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravcı.
Overall, the summit served as an international platform for discussing cooperation in the space sector, developing new technologies, and establishing common approaches to the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space.
