The State Inspection for Testing Control reported that Uzbekistan is implementing digitalization in the regulation of its jewelry industry. This applies to licensing, issuing permits, and providing public services related to precious metals and stones.
At a press conference organized by the inspection under the Ministry of Economy and Finance on September 11, the regulation of the jewelry sector, public services, and supervision of activities related to precious metals and stones were discussed. During the event, current reforms, achieved results, and industry priorities were presented.
Officials noted the continuous growth in demand for services to determine the purity of jewelry and apply state hallmarks. The procedures for obtaining licenses and permits for activities involving precious metals and stones have been fully digitized, and public services are provided electronically without human intervention.
As of September 1, 2026, 2911 entities engaged in activities with precious metals and stones were registered in Uzbekistan. The press conference was also dedicated to ensuring compliance with legislation, preventing violations, and combating corruption, including petty corruption.
The inspection stated that applications from individuals and legal entities are reviewed comprehensively, and the discipline of execution is monitored. As part of preventive work, 1500 inspections were conducted in 2024, 1679 in 2025, and 1169 during the reporting period of 2026. Regional authorities conduct open dialogues with entrepreneurs, as well as seminars and awareness-raising events regarding the requirements of current legislation.
The digitalization of licensing procedures continues in parallel with the introduction of video surveillance systems for providing public services and the use of modern technical equipment during inspections. The conference concluded with an open discussion with media representatives and entrepreneurs, who discussed proposals and opinions regarding the further development of the jewelry industry.
