BRICS Leaders Recognize Women as Key Figures in Economic Growth and Social Transformation

At the summit in New Delhi, BRICS leaders stated that they recognize women as leaders, decision-makers, and crucial driving forces for economic growth and social change.

In a joint declaration released after the meeting, heads of state also noted the indispensable role of women in peacebuilding processes, aligning with the global agenda of 'Women, Peace, and Security'.

The declaration emphasized that sustainable development is impossible without women's participation in governance, their financial and digital integration, as well as access to capacity building, skills training, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Furthermore, the importance of supporting women in matters of climate action, food security, and nutrition was noted, given the interconnectedness of these aspects.

Leaders highlighted the necessity of implementing policies that ensure the full participation of women in economic life, including developing appropriate care measures tailored to national conditions.

The meeting also marked anticipation for the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, scheduled for October 2026. This forum will include both a gathering of women parliamentarians and a meeting of chairs of committees on international affairs.

Participants stressed the significance of such events as platforms for strengthening mutual trust and understanding between nations, stimulating innovation, and enhancing institutional resilience to build an inclusive, sustainable, and equitable future for all.

The declaration also highly praised the contribution of the BRICS Women Entrepreneurs Alliance (WBA) in promoting female entrepreneurship, leadership, and economic activity in member countries.

Leaders welcomed the recommendations contained in the Annual Report of the Women Entrepreneurs Alliance, aimed at improving access for women-owned enterprises to finance, markets, technology, skills development, and digital opportunities. They noted the high level of engagement in WBA programs across BRICS countries to date.

In conclusion, the declaration called on National Heads of BRICS to continue strengthening cooperation within the bloc regarding women's economic participation through knowledge sharing and joint initiatives.
