Uzbekistan and Russia are considering the possibility of implementing new joint projects in the agribusiness sector. These projects include the localization of dairy and confectionery production, as well as the supply of breeding livestock and grain.
On September 11 in Moscow, Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, met with Ali Uzdenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the STEP agricultural holding. The parties discussed the potential for joint ventures in Uzbekistan's agrarian sector.
One of the proposed initiatives is the annual supply of 7 thousand head of Holstein breed breeding cattle to Uzbekistan. After receiving the animals, they will be distributed among families in mahallas across the country's regions. This breed is valued for its high productivity, with some animals capable of producing over 40 liters of milk daily.
It is expected that this measure will contribute to the development of family businesses, provide the population with stable sources of income, and help families escape poverty.
The participants also considered the option of supplying 500 thousand tons of Russian wheat grain to Uzbekistan via the Caspian Sea. The proposed supplies are due to the high grain harvest in Russia this year.
During the discussions, the parties studied the possibility of creating appropriate logistics routes using the ports of Astrakhan and Makhachkala. Following the meetings, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and STEP agreed to continue cooperation in the specified areas and develop concrete mechanisms for implementing joint projects.
