Usually, when talking about trains, we imagine railway tracks laid on the ground. However, in China, a train has been created that moves not on the ground, but on an aerial track. From a distance, this train looks as if it is hanging upside down in the air and moving forward. This transport has been named the 'Sky Train.'
It travels along a magnetic track located approximately 33 feet, which is about 10 meters above the ground. Magnetic technology is used for movement, making it quite different from ordinary trains. At first glance at its image, it can be hard to believe what one sees, as part of the train is visible from below, creating the impression that it is floating in the air.
The operating principle of this train is based on the use of magnetic technology. Simply put, there is an interaction of magnetic energy between the train and the track, allowing the train to move along the aerial track. Initially, a track about 2600 feet long was built in China. The maximum speed of this train is approximately 60 kilometers per hour. Special attention was paid to ensuring that it operates very quietly.
This Sky Train can carry about 200 passengers per trip. It is equipped with full automation technology, meaning that under standard conditions, the constant presence of a driver is not required. Many functions, such as opening and closing doors, are performed automatically. Although there is a driver on board, their role is limited to actions in case of an emergency.
The train's design incorporates technology that helps reduce energy consumption. According to reports, permanent magnet motors and a special air conditioning system are used. This allows for a reduction in energy consumption per passenger by approximately 15 percent. Furthermore, China viewed this Sky Train not only as a means of transport but also as a tourist attraction. It was planned to use it in the Optical Valley area in Wuhan city to attract tourists. It was planned that the train would provide a 270-degree view, allowing passengers to enjoy a panoramic view of the surroundings during the journey.
The most attractive feature of this train is its appearance. Passengers inside the carriage can observe the road and cars driving below. Thus, a person travels on an aerial track while watching the movement of vehicles on the ground. This experience can be completely new for a first visitor, which is why videos of such trains attract people's attention on social media.
