Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on September 11 dedicated to the development of Tashkent, employment issues, infrastructure, and investments in mahallas.
The head of state emphasized the necessity of specializing the capital's districts in specific economic directions based on their potential.
Large logistics centers are planned for creation in Sergeliysky, Yangiha'otsky, and Bektemirsky districts. These complexes will handle the sorting, packaging, distribution, and delivery of goods arriving in Tashkent.
Shaikantakhursky, Mirzo-Ulugbeksky, Mirabadsky, Yunusabadsky, and Yakkasaraysky districts will develop as business and financial hubs. Authorities expect to form a capital market worth 2 billion dollars here and provide 20–25 thousand high-paying jobs.
In Almazarsky, Chilanzarsky, and Uchtepinsky districts, it is planned to attract at least 1 billion dollars for the development of education, medicine, trade, and services, which should create 15–20 thousand jobs.
Work with investors was also discussed separately. It is planned that 9 billion dollars in investments will be attracted to 12 districts of Tashkent by 2026. The President noted that the current pace of attracting funds remains insufficient in several districts.
To simplify interaction with investors, it was proposed to resolve their issues directly at the district level so they would not have to visit various agencies. Representatives of city and republican authorities will hold weekly meetings with entrepreneurs and investors on site.
If an issue requires intervention at a higher level, relevant proposals must be sent to the Presidential Administration on the same day. This new procedure, which will be under 'special control', will be in effect until the end of the current year.
Furthermore, Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the development of a plan to attract 10 billion dollars in investments to Tashkent in 2027 and create 150–200 thousand permanent high-paying jobs.
