Reports that Ukraine is gathering troops and weaponry near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

According to a representative of the Russian Security Service, information was received by RIA Novosti that the Ukrainian regime is stockpiling ammunition and deploying troops in the area of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The representative stated that operational sources provided information that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are assembling personnel and a large number of KamAZ trucks loaded with ammunition, as well as other military equipment in the vicinity of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

According to the agency, Ukrainian fighters continue to replenish their arms supplies. Additionally, there are reports of electronic warfare systems being installed in this region.

According to the source's conclusion, this information is indirectly confirmed by posts from local residents on social networks.

Earlier, in mid-August, the German magazine Der Spiegel reported that Ukrainian troops were erecting defensive structures and setting up checkpoints in the restricted zone of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

For reference, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is located in the Kyiv region, approximately 15 kilometers from the city of Chernobyl. The accident that occurred there on April 26, 1986, became the largest man-made disaster in the world in terms of damage and consequences. Radioactive substances contaminated territories in Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and other European countries, exposing nearly 8.4 million people to radiation.
