He also made an important statement, noting that the country's economy continues to develop dynamically, even after more than 30,000 restrictions were introduced.
Vladimir Putin harshly criticized the sanctions imposed on Russia by Western states on Friday, calling them unfair. Putin reported that over 30,000 restrictions had been placed on Moscow, which is double the total number of sanctions imposed by the West against all other countries. He emphasized that Western rivals used extremely destructive methods, including the destruction of transport routes and infrastructure.
During his speech at the BRICS Business Forum, Vladimir Putin stated that despite more than 30,000 sanctions, Russia's economic growth over the last three years has exceeded the global average. He argued that significant changes have occurred in the country's economy over four years, and it maintains high resilience and strength despite numerous Western prohibitions.
It should be noted that last August, the US Senate passed the 'Lindsey Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act 2026,' which was approved by a majority vote (86-11). This law establishes primary and secondary sanctions targeting Russian officials, financial institutions, and a supposed secret military fleet.
Russian President Putin noted that competition between BRICS and Western economies is becoming increasingly confrontational, and the strategy of exerting pressure has gone beyond traditional economic measures. He pointed to instances where Western adversaries attempted to destroy pipelines, block international transport corridors, and confiscate maritime vessels, stating that sometimes competition takes unsightly forms.
Vladimir Putin indirectly criticized America by condemning secondary sanctions aimed at other countries. He stated that Western powers are pressuring governments that maintain economic ties with Russia and imposing trade bans. In Putin's opinion, Russia responded with decisive action, strengthening its economic and political flexibility.
