The Indian electric motorcycle market is showing significant changes in September. Previously, the list of five leading electric motorcycle brands consistently included Ola Electric, but now one brand has managed to push Ola Electric out of this list.
This data pertains only to the first nine days of September. Greaves Electric Mobility, which sells its electric scooters under the Ampere brand, has secured a spot in the list of the five largest electric motorcycle manufacturers. It should be noted that this is not the first instance; previously, in February 2026, the company also sold more units than Ola Electric.
Greaves Electric overtook Ola Electric, which had dominated the Indian electric vehicle market for two years. According to sales data for September, Greaves Electric registered 2,645 electric motorcycles, achieving a market share of 4.6 percent. Meanwhile, Ola Electric sold 2,607 units, accounting for a 4.5 percent market share.
In the first nine days of September, Greaves Electric's sales increased by 66 percent compared to August. In August, the company sold 1,597 units during the same period, whereas 2,645 units were sold in September.
In August 2026, a total of 183,204 units were sold in the Indian market. TVS EV recorded the highest sales volume, selling 48,938 units in August. Bajaj Auto also performed well, selling 41,114 electric motorcycles. Ather Energy ranked third, having sold 28,757 electric scooters in August.
Hero Vida holds the fourth position among electric motorcycle manufacturers, selling 19,007 units in August. Ola Electric occupied fifth place in August with sales of 13,852 units, while Greaves Electric (Ampere) sold 8,613 units in August. It will now be interesting to see if Greaves Electric can maintain the leadership it gained at the beginning of September.
