Despite toilet breaks during lessons being a common practice in schools, one educational institution in China has implemented an unusual rule that has sparked widespread public controversy. According to this regulation, students are only allowed to use the restroom once during the entire academic period. According to a report by SCMP, this case involves the Senior High School in Uian District, Guangdong Province, Southern China. The report states that at the end of August, an internal school meeting was held where rules related to school management were presented. This presentation included the controversial regulation regarding toilet use during classes. The rule stated that a student is only permitted to use the toilet once per academic year, and this must only happen in emergency circumstances.

Under the established school rule, if a student needs to use the toilet after the first time during class, the situation is immediately passed on to the parents. Upon the second toilet visit, the student's parents are invited to the school to discuss the child's performance and behavior. Thus, instead of making the decision independently, the student is forced to approach the administration through their legal representatives.

The rule concerning the third toilet visit caused the most surprise. The documents presented indicate that if a student uses the toilet three times during a lesson, they will face punishment. However, the presentation did not detail what specific penalty would be applied in the event of a third visit.

The school administration explains the introduction of such rules as a necessity to maintain discipline in classes. School leadership asserts that frequent departures from the classroom can cause disruptions and negatively affect the educational atmosphere. Nevertheless, restricting toilet access to only once per period has caused strong public dissatisfaction, as every child's needs are individual. It is difficult to anticipate a sudden need to use the toilet for every student in advance.

After photos of the children sitting in the toilet went viral on social media, chaos erupted in the education department. It is reported that the old school building is completely dilapidated and poses a risk of collapse, forcing children to attend classes either in the Bhildat Deva temple or in the school's premises toilet, as there was no safe place for them.

According to local residents, the village lacks a suitable building for a school. Radheshyam Mujalda noted that a new toilet was built about six months ago but has not yet been used for its intended purpose, leading the children to use it for lessons.

Following the spread of the images, the District Education Officer, Hiralal Nigwal, and a BRC official, Vijay Kumar Shukla, arrived at the site. The officials inspected the situation and drew up a report. It was stated that a report on this incident would be forwarded to higher authorities.

Radheshyam Mujalda emphasized that the lack of a school building creates a problem with space for students. He added that if the toilet were used regularly, there would be no seating left for the children. In his opinion, the absence of a school building led to children having to study in various temporary locations.

DEO Hiralal Nigwal reported that a video surfaced showing children studying in the women's toilet. He clarified that local officials issued an order to demolish the school building about two years ago. Despite this, classes continued in the temple and also in the toilet.

According to Hiralal Nigwal, a BRC engineer assessed the dilapidated building and submitted the assessment to the district office. Subsequently, two or three years ago, the district office issued an order to demolish the building. The department also sent letters to the village head and secretary demanding immediate action.

The DEO stated that the school principal and teacher claimed that it was very hot on the day of the incident, and it was sunny in the temple. Therefore, 7-8 children were temporarily placed in the toilet. Nevertheless, the DEO categorically stated that such placement of children is unacceptable.

Vijay Kumar Shukla reported that upon inspection, he found children studying in the temple hall. He confirmed that the old school building was ordered to be demolished two years ago. A new primary school building is currently being constructed as part of this process, but its construction is not yet complete.

Vijay Kumar Shukla added that as soon as the new building is ready, the children will be relocated there. Currently, learning is being organized in Jitendra Mandale's premises with his consent so as not to interrupt the children's studies. BRC staff also interviewed the children, who reported that a car carrying two people arrived. These people put the children in the toilet, took a picture, and then left. BRC stated that this is the only information they have at present.

An investigation is currently underway at the departmental level. After the officials arrived at the scene and compiled a report based on the viral photos, the report will be sent to higher authorities. For now, the children's education continues in the temple and at alternative venues while awaiting the completion of the new school building.
