Xiaomi launches SkyNomad N90 Max SUV in China with retractable roof, refrigerator, and 12 airbags

Xiaomi has introduced the SkyNomad N90 Max model in China, an SUV designed to carry seven passengers, featuring an extended range system and priced at the equivalent of R$ 205,100. Although the brand indicates a combined range of 1,705 km, the vehicle's specifications include notable features such as buoyancy capability, a roof that can be converted into a bedroom, and a promise of vehicle replacement in case of battery fire.

The battery, named Dragonscale, has a capacity of 76 kWh and was developed in partnership with CALB and Sunwoda. Xiaomi offers a lifetime warranty against spontaneous combustion; if a fire occurs due to a manufacturing defect, the company guarantees the delivery of a new vehicle identical to the original model and version, without deduction for depreciation or mileage.

In situations where the fire results from a collision, the company assures to cover the difference between the insurance compensation value and the market value of the automobile before the accident. However, there are specific conditions: this coverage is valid only for the initial owner, in private use, provided maintenance is performed through the official network and connected services are active.

With dimensions of 5.28 meters in length and 3.08 meters in wheelbase, the N90 Max is equipped with a hood air intake that allows it to traverse 75 cm of water, in addition to having flotation capacity in emergencies, according to Xiaomi. The Explorer Edition, which costs approximately R$ 227,900, includes a factory electric liftable roof that creates a bedroom above the vehicle.

The interior accommodates configurable seats in a 2+2+3 arrangement, allowing for 11 different configurations and offering up to 1,831 liters of free space. The center console features rails and integrates a 9-liter compressor refrigerator. The headlights, called Dragonfly, can illuminate 624 meters in high beam mode and open 180 degrees in low beam mode. The vehicle features 21-inch wheels with staggered tires, wider in the rear, and its body incorporates an internal steel cage with a strength of 2,200 MPa, in addition to having 12 airbags and an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.255, considered low for a utility vehicle of this size.

The propulsion combines a 1.5 turbo engine of 152 hp, which generates only electricity without driving the wheels, with two electric motors that provide a total of 422 hp and enable all-wheel drive. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 5.9 seconds. The car comes standard with five-level pneumatic suspension and offers 464 km of range using only the battery, according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. Fast charging can recover 285 km in just 15 minutes, and the declared consumption when the battery is discharged is 16 km/l.

It is important to note that the 1,705 km range requires context, as the CLTC cycle is more optimistic compared to European and American standards. In a test conducted by Xiaomi itself, with four occupants, air conditioning set to 24°C, and an average speed of 104 km/h, the SUV traveled 1,230 km on the Shanghai to Beijing route. Currently, the model competes with the Li Auto L9 and Aito M9, and there is no forecast for its arrival in Brazil yet.
