Uzbekistan and Algeria Discuss Expansion of Trade Cooperation

The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held a video conference with the Algerian Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, on September 10.

During the meeting, participants discussed issues of expanding economic, investment, and trade interaction between the two countries, as well as developing industrial cooperation and increasing bilateral trade.

Particular attention was paid to organizing direct negotiations between representatives of both countries on priority commodity categories. Furthermore, proposals were put forward for concluding a preferential trade agreement and establishing an intergovernmental commission and a Uzbekistan-Algeria Business Council.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides agreed to continue joint work on the practical implementation of the agreements reached and to turn the agreed initiatives into concrete projects.

Finally, the parties talked about the potential for expanding import-export cooperation between enterprises of both countries.

Uzbekistan and Serbia Agree to Expand Economic Cooperation and Trade

Uzbekistan and Serbia reached an agreement to expand trade and economic interaction, increase investments, and develop industrial ties following the first meeting of the Uzbekistan-Serbia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Belgrade on September 7.

The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, and the Minister of International Economic Relations of Serbia, Nenad Popović. The parties discussed areas for deepening trade and economic ties, increasing investment volumes, and developing industrial partnership.

Particular attention was paid to preparing for the start of negotiations on concluding a free trade agreement. Prospective areas for joint work included pharmaceuticals, textile industry, agriculture, critical minerals, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Participants also considered ways to simplify cargo transportation between the two countries, as well as prospects for cooperation in the field of railway infrastructure. It is planned that the second meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission will take place in Uzbekistan in 2027.

During his visit, Laziz Kudratov held a series of meetings and negotiations with leaders of major Serbian companies. Opportunities for further strengthening business ties and cooperation in priority sectors were discussed.

Uzbekistan and Syria agree to expand business contacts and trade

Uzbekistan and Syria have reached an agreement to expand direct business ties and implement new projects in the field of trade and investment. This was reported by the Dunyo information agency following a meeting of representatives from the Union of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and about twenty Syrian companies.

The meeting took place in Damascus and was dedicated to strengthening economic and trade relations, as well as fulfilling agreements previously reached at the Uzbek-Syrian business forum in Bukhara.

The dialogue between entrepreneurs from both countries, which began in February, continued. Participants discussed opportunities to deepen direct cooperation and introduce specific joint projects.

Main attention was paid to sectors such as food industry, building materials, electrical engineering, and light industry. The parties also considered prospects for establishing direct business contacts in these and other promising areas.

Syrian entrepreneurs noted high demand for construction materials amid reconstruction work in the country and expressed interest in cooperating with Uzbek construction and development companies.

Furthermore, the parties discussed increasing trade turnover in the field of electrical products and light industry goods.

Special attention was given to the potential of the Uzbek Trade House in Aleppo. Participants discussed ways to utilize this facility to expand bilateral trade, as well as the prospects of creating similar trade venues in other regions of Syria.

Syrian entrepreneurs were invited to participate in a business forum scheduled for the autumn in Tashkent as part of the first meeting of the Uzbekistan-Syria Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain regular direct contact between business representatives, organize mutual business missions, and increase the participation of companies from both countries in international exhibitions and trade fairs. It was also decided to intensify work on specific projects in the field of trade and investment.
