The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Ilhom Makhamov, met with Christian Leifeld, CFO of Lufthansa Technik, and Marion Edel, Deputy German Ambassador to Uzbekistan, on September 10. The parties discussed issues related to aircraft technical support and the development of competencies in aviation repair and maintenance.
Particular attention was paid to long-term partnership against the backdrop of Uzbekistan's plans to double its air fleet by 2030. Specifically, the extension of the agreement on technical support for components for Airbus A320ceo/neo and Boeing 787 aircraft until 2035 was discussed.
The parties also considered the possibility of further interaction in the field of maintenance for LEAP-1A and CFM56-5B engines. Another area of discussion was plans for the next decade, which include developing technical knowledge and expanding the capabilities of Uzbekistan Airways Technics.
The Minister of Transport proposed creating joint cooperation between Lufthansa Technik and Tashkent State Transport University. This cooperation could include internships for students of the university's Aviation Technical Faculty, as well as the joint implementation of educational and professional programs in civil aviation.
This interaction is expected to contribute to the training of aviation specialists, the exchange of international experience, and the strengthening of human resources potential in this sector. Lufthansa Technik is a German company specializing in aircraft maintenance and is among the five largest global providers of aircraft maintenance services. The company is a subsidiary of Lufthansa and is involved in the repair, modernization, and production of components.
