The Ipiranga neighborhood, located in São Paulo, is celebrating its 442nd anniversary in September. To mark this significant date, the Fundação Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora do Ipiranga (Funsai) organizes the traditional Ipiranga Festivities, which consist of a series of civic and cultural activities held annually to celebrate the region's birthday.
The program promoted by Funsai will run from September 12th to 25th, covering three of its spaces. Attractions include guided tours of the Vicente de Azevedo Museum, a musical recital held at the VIVAVIDA Community Center, and on the 25th, a musical evening reserved only for guests at the Liceu de Artes Musicais Fúrio Franceschini (Lamff).
Funsai was established by Count José Vicente de Azevedo in 1896 and plays an active role in Ipiranga in socio-assistance, educational, and cultural spheres. Its actions are primarily directed towards children, youth, seniors, and families facing situations of vulnerability and social risk.
On Saturday, September 12th, the Vicente de Azevedo Museum will be open to visitors for guided tours. This museum is situated in a historic building designed by Count José Vicente de Azevedo and planned in 1889 by Ramos de Azevedo. The location serves to preserve the memory of the founders and members of Funsai, as well as aspects of the history of Ipiranga and the city of São Paulo itself.
During the tour, the public will have the opportunity to learn about the trajectory of José Vicente de Azevedo and his influence on the development of the neighborhood. Each route lasts up to one hour and limits access to 20 people per session. Entry is free but requires prior reservation through the Sympla platform.
On September 18th, the VIVAVIDA Community Center will host a musical recital, showcasing the work of workshop participants. This event is open to the public and will take place from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, featuring various performances, including zumba, Spanish, Portuguese dance, Taissô radio, Spanish dance, Libras, Gypsy dance, and Castanhola.
VIVAVIDA, created in 2006, is dedicated to people over 60 years old. Currently, the center hosts about 700 individuals who participate in approximately 80 workshops and activities, whether educational, physical, recreational, or cultural.
Funsai's program culminates on the 25th with the Musical Night at LAMFF. This event, restricted to guests, will feature a performance by a quartet from percussionist and producer Roberta Valente, along with students from Musicou FUNSAI, a music education program developed in collaboration with Sustenidos Organização Social de Cultura.
