Meta uses Muse band's username for its new artificial intelligence agent

The band Muse lost the username @muse on social media to the new artificial intelligence agent developed by Meta. This launch of the personal AI agent occurred last Tuesday, September 8th, and since then, followers of the British group have noticed the change to @museband. This substitution was implemented not only on Instagram and Facebook but also on TikTok and X/Twitter.

The band, which formed in 1994, has always used the original name on its social platforms. Although many users have expressed dissatisfaction with this change, the group and Meta have not yet issued official statements about the incident. Some fans mentioned that the name change had already been made on Instagram back in June.

It is noteworthy that the band Muse already addresses themes aligned with the current technological landscape in its compositions. The albums Drones, released in 2015, and Simulation Theory, from 2018, intensely explore narratives about social control, using elements such as drones, robots, and algorithms.

Given the growing concerns of industry experts about the rapid evolution towards superintelligence, it is peculiar that a rock band that deals with these themes in its music has its username taken by a large technology company.

Checks on X indicate that the username modification occurred back in July. The new owner of @muse is a personal artificial intelligence agent, which promises to operate continuously on a virtual machine dedicated to each user. This model was presented with a more accessible functionality, requiring less technical knowledge to create commands (prompts).

To function, this agent requires expanded access to the user's personal data, including financial information. In a video released by Mark Zuckerberg to present the AI, he demonstrates scenarios where Muse creates a shopping list and awaits user approval before making the transaction on the credit card.

Although recently launched, Muse has already gained considerable popularity in the United States, but there is no forecast for its arrival in other countries. The application reached the second position among the most downloaded, only behind ChatGPT.
