Measures have been taken against students involved in the attack on the school principal in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal state. The state's Education Minister, Dipak Barman, announced that the accused students were issued transfer certificates (TC).
The Education Minister noted that despite receiving TCs from Jalpaiguri Zila School, these students will be able to enroll in other educational institutions. Dipak Barman visited Jalpaiguri Zila School on Friday, spent considerable time there, spoke with the students, and learned about their problems. He also asked the students about difficulties related to carrying heavy bags.
The situation occurred after the celebration of Teacher's Day at Jalpaiguri Zila School. During the event, some students were sitting on chairs, including one near the fan in the dining hall kitchen. When the principal, Dharmachand Burui, approached and forbade them from doing so, a conflict arose. Some students claim that the principal hit them, which led to the escalation of the situation.
It is suspected that afterward, some students began to pursue the principal while shouting 'Chor-Chor' with the intention of beating him. During the pursuit, the principal fell and sustained injuries. As tensions rose, local law enforcement agencies were notified, and the principal was taken to the hospital. According to available information, the situation around the vehicle that rescued and transported the principal to the Jalpaiguri hospital was also tense.
The state government called this incident regrettable. The Education Minister personally reviewed the details of the incident by speaking with both the students and the school administration. As a result of the incident, the accused students were issued the relevant transfer documents.
