Venture capital investments in Indian startups doubled this week, demonstrating sustained investor interest across various sectors, including the restaurant business, space technology, and women's healthcare.
Numerous significant deals were closed during this week. For instance, the startup Pixxel attracted $100 million, while the bootstrapped restaurant chain Popo Global received $56 million.
Overall, Indian startups attracted $392 million through 27 deals in the second half of September, significantly exceeding the $196 million raised the previous week. This growth provides some relief to the ecosystem, as weekly venture capital investments since early August have mostly remained in the range of $100 to $200 million.
Funding was distributed across different stages of development; startups at Series A stage received $104 million. This activity indicates that investors continue to support early-stage Indian startups despite the overall cautious investment climate.
There was also an expansion in the circle of investors: in addition to traditional venture funds, private equity funds and development banks participated.
Nevertheless, experts note that this momentum is unlikely to continue in the near future, as there are no trends that could ensure a consistently high volume of capital.
The space startup Pixxel received $100 million from investors such as Temasek, Seraphim, 360 ONE Asset, IMM Investment, Radical Ventures, and growX Ventures.
