Samsung is preparing to introduce another entry-level device to the Brazilian market with the Galaxy A18 4G. This smartphone received approval from the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) on Wednesday, September 9th, allowing its commercialization in the country, according to information obtained by Tecnoblog.
The phone model is identified by the code SM-A185G/DS, following the standardization of Samsung's A line (such as its predecessor A17 4G, which has the model SM-A175F/DS).
Leaks indicate few significant innovations compared to its predecessor, as certification documents confirm similar features. Connectivity will remain at 4G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth, and NFC. Internally, it uses the same MediaTek Helio G99 processor, the same one used in the Galaxy A15 4G.
Regarding the battery, it remains at 5,000 mAh, without the adoption of silicon-carbon, unlike some Chinese competitors. Although the design is similar to the A17, with almost identical colors, there was an increase of 3 grams in weight and 0.2 mm in thickness, which may be related to the improvement of the IP64 protection rating.
The main expected change lies in the price, due to the rising cost of RAM and NAND memories, even though Samsung manufactures these memories. In Brazil, the device will be supplied with a 15W charger in the box, as is tradition.
The website Sammyguru, which published the first images of the device, points out that a reseller would have the Galaxy A18 4G in stock starting October 8th, suggesting an announcement between the end of this month and the first days of October. This launch should occur alongside the Galaxy A08 4G, which has already been approved in Brazil.
Currently, there is no defined price in the national market. For comparison, the Galaxy A17 4G was launched last year for R$ 1,399 in the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model, but today it can be found in the range of R$ 800 to R$ 1,000, or even less during promotions.
