Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the Group of Seven (G7) on Friday, contrasting its economic contribution with that of BRICS countries, noting that the latter now account for over 40% of global GDP.
Speaking at the BRICS Business Forum, Putin stated that the transformation of the world's economic order is reflected in data from the last five years. He emphasized that the world is constantly changing, and this is confirmed by objective facts of the past five years.
According to Putin, BRICS countries generated over 40% of global GDP during the specified period, while the G7's share was only 29%. Putin noted: 'Over the past five years, more than 40% of global GDP has been produced by BRICS countries, whereas the contribution of the so-called G7, the Group of Seven—I don't know why they call it the Group of Seven—is only 29%.'
The economies of the G7 include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Additionally, Putin, who arrived in Delhi early in the morning, held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi.
