Hyundai Motor India has announced the implementation of a special feature for its compact SUVs, the Venue and Venue N-Line. The company has equipped these models with a remote immobilizer function that can be activated via smartphone when the vehicle is parked.
This feature is named Hyundai Bluelink Remote Immobiliser and will be introduced through an update to the Hyundai Controller Over-The-Air software. This means customers will not need to visit a service center to activate this technology.
The company states that this technology is designed to prevent vehicle theft. Even if intruders manage to get inside the car, stealing it will become significantly more difficult.
The remote immobilizer can be turned on through the Hyundai Bluelink app on a smartphone when the vehicle is stationary. Upon activation of this feature, several vehicle systems will cease to function, and restarting these functions will require a full authentication procedure without authorization.
Even if the car has been stolen and this feature was not initially activated, it can be enabled. The company positions this as a necessary protective mechanism. It is important to note that the remote immobilizer cannot disable the vehicle while it is in motion; it activates after the vehicle stops and the engine is turned off.
Thus, if someone steals the car and drives it, the feature will not work while moving. However, it will activate after stopping and turning off the engine. To enable this feature, one does not need to contact the Bluelink center. Furthermore, the Bluelink app will display the vehicle's real-time location.
It should be noted that the functionality of all these features depends on factors such as electrical power, wiring, and network connectivity.
This feature is available for the CCNC HX 10 and Venue N-Line N10 variants of the Hyundai Venue model. The company has stated that all corresponding units sold after November 2025 will receive this feature via OTA update. Furthermore, this feature will become standard for the relevant modifications in September 2026.
