IT Park Uzbekistan and SEE UP agree to expand startup cooperation between Uzbekistan and Serbia

Uzbekistan and Serbia signed a document on cooperation in the field of labor health and safety during the visit of Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Serbia.

This agreement is designed to deepen interaction between the two states and open new opportunities for improving workplace safety, protecting the lives and health of workers, as well as exchanging experience and implementing modern methods in occupational safety.

One of the central areas of joint work will be ensuring safe and healthy working conditions. The parties also plan to focus on improving occupational safety systems and preventing industrial injuries and occupational diseases.

Special attention will be paid to studying international experience and modern approaches to ensuring workplace safety, after which the most effective solutions will be practically applied.

For the State Labor Inspectorate of Uzbekistan, international partnership in this area is of great importance for improving mechanisms for monitoring compliance with labor health and safety requirements and preventing violations. Exchanging experiences with foreign partners will help study existing methodologies and assess the potential for their implementation in Uzbekistan. Protecting the lives and health of workers is one of the priorities of Uzbekistan's state labor policy.

Serbia and Uzbekistan have reached an agreement to expand cooperation in the field of agriculture and have established a joint working group. This decision was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia.

The Minister of Agriculture of Serbia, Dragan Galamočić, and the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, held a meeting in Belgrade on September 7, ahead of the official visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Serbia.

Discussions focused on specific investment projects, increasing trade in agricultural and food products, exchange of knowledge and modern technologies, as well as the application of artificial intelligence in agriculture.

Galamočić emphasized that increasing bilateral trade remains one of the main goals of cooperation, and Belgrade is interested in building a long-term partnership. He noted that in the context of climate change, the development of the agrarian sector requires more active use of science, innovation, and modern technologies.

The main topics were livestock farming and meat processing. The parties considered the possibility of attracting investments to develop production in Serbia to meet the growing market demand in Uzbekistan.

Abdurakhmonov stated that a similar model of cooperation could also be applied to fruit cultivation. Uzbekistan is interested in acquiring high-quality planting material from Serbia, as well as attracting Serbian producers capable of starting production using Serbian genetics, experience, and technology.

A potential area for joint work in seed production was also identified. Uzbekistan intends to exchange experience and knowledge with leading research institutes and specialists from Serbia.

Another subject of discussion was water resource management. Abdurakhmonov reported that over 2.5 million hectares are irrigated in Uzbekistan, and the country plans to improve its irrigation systems and increase water use efficiency by implementing modern technologies. He noted that Serbian experience and corresponding technological solutions could be valuable in this area.

The ministers also outlined broader frameworks for future interaction. It is expected to include the development of intensive and technologically advanced agriculture, wider use of scientific developments, digital solutions, and artificial intelligence, as well as joint investments and production. The goal of the partnership is not only to increase bilateral trade but also potential joint entry into third-country markets with agricultural products.

A joint working group was created to practically implement the agreements reached. This group will coordinate and monitor the implementation of the agreement on cooperation in the fields of agriculture, water resources, and sustainable rural development, which is planned to be signed during Mirziyoyev's visit to Serbia. The working group will also facilitate interaction between institutions, companies, and specialists from both countries.

Galamočić stressed that Serbia possesses knowledge, genetic resources, research institutes, and specialists, while Uzbekistan has a large market, significant production potential, and interest in investment. He believes that combining these capabilities will lead to the realization of concrete projects.

Prior to the ministerial talks, the first meeting of the Joint Serbian-Uzbek Economic Cooperation Commission took place at the Palace of Serbia. At this commission, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia was represented by State Secretary Željko Rađošević.
