100 tourist and gastronomic streets are planned for Tashkent by 2030

It is planned that by 2030, one hundred streets will be formed in Tashkent that will have a tourist, gastronomic, walking, and 24-hour character. These new streets will be distributed across all twelve districts of the capital.

Distribution of new streets by district

The largest number of such streets is planned for Chilanzar district—eleven facilities will appear there. Ten streets are provided for Mirzo-Ulubek, Sergelyi, Yunusabad, and Yangiha'ot districts. Eight streets are planned to be created in Mirabad, Almazar, Shaykhantakur, Yakkasaray, and Yashnabad districts.

In addition, six streets will open in Uchtepinsky district, and three in Bektemir district.

Project financing

175 billion soms have been allocated for the implementation of these projects in 2026, which will be taken from funds saved in the state budget. The total amount that will be directed towards the creation of these streets in stages until 2030 is one trillion soms.

Furthermore, plans were previously announced to extend Taras Shevchenko tourist street in Tashkent by almost 400 meters. This new section will be landscaped and supplemented with public areas intended for recreation, walking, and business.

Several streets in central Tashkent will be closed on September 6 for an international half marathon

The Center for Road Traffic Organization (CRTO) reported that on Sunday, September 6, traffic will be restricted on certain sections of Tashkent's streets from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM. These restrictions are due to the Tashkent International Half Marathon, which is held in honor of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.

Sections where traffic will be restricted:

The closures will affect the following streets and avenues:

  • Islam Karimov Street — from Furqat Street to Sharaf Rashidov Avenue;
  • Sharaf Rashidov Avenue — from Afrosiyob Street to Islam Karimov Street;
  • Afrosiyob Street — from Islam Karimov Street to Oybek Street;
  • Oybek Street — from Afrosiyob Street to Nukus Street;
  • Nukus Street — from Oybek Street to Abdulla Kadiri Street;
  • Abdulla Kadiri Street — from Nukus Street to Hamidulla Aripov Street;
  • Hamidulla Aripov Street — from Abdulla Kadiri Street to Mustaqillik Avenue;
  • Mustaqillik Avenue — from Mirzo Ulugbek Avenue to Amir Temur Square;
  • Streets around Amir Temur Square — up to Bukhara and Shahrisabz Streets;
  • Alisher Navoi Street — from Shahrisabz Street to Furqat Street;
  • Batyr Zakirov Street — from Alisher Navoi Street to Afrosiyob Street;
  • A section of Ukchi Street adjacent to Batyr Zakirov Street.

The races are scheduled to include a 5-kilometer distance for the mass marathon and 21 kilometers for the half marathon. It is also reported that movement may be temporarily restricted on neighboring streets if necessary.
