Italian archaeologists, led by Fabio Giorgio Cavallero from the University of Urbino, reported the discovery of an unusual object during excavations. These works were conducted among the ruins of Hadrian's Villa, located in Tivoli and dated to the 2nd century AD.
The researchers managed to find a marble slab inscribed with the Latin text: FVLGVR SVBMANIUM. It is presumed that this ancient artifact testifies that a lightning strike hit the imperial residence on one of the nights.
According to Roman beliefs, such a phenomenon was associated with the deity Summanus, which is reflected in the content of the discovered inscription. Information about this find was provided by the publication Arkeonews, citing the Italian Ministry of Culture.
