Tashkent is the largest pharmaceutical production center in Uzbekistan, accounting for about 60% of output

Tashkent maintains its status as the main hub of pharmaceutical production in Uzbekistan. From January to July, enterprises in the capital produced goods worth 2.1 trillion soums, which accounts for almost 60% of the total volume of pharmaceutical products in the country. In these seven months, 3.5 trillion soums worth of pharmaceutical products were produced in Uzbekistan, exceeding the figure for the same period last year by 20.7%.

Distribution of Production Volumes by Region

According to data from the National Committee on Statistics, the capital significantly surpasses other regions in terms of production volume. The Syrdarya region ranked second, where 529 billion soums worth of pharmaceutical products were produced over seven months. The production volume across various regions is as follows:

  • Tashkent region — 286.4 billion soums;
  • Namangan region — 214.2 billion soums;
  • Samarkand region — 143.1 billion soums;
  • Andijan region — 83.6 billion soums;

Previously, the World Bank pointed to pharmaceuticals as one of Uzbekistan's industries with high potential for attracting private investment. Analysts at this international organization suggest that the development of this sector, combined with reforms in logistics and tourism, could attract between $5.2 and $6.4 billion in private capital investment and create over 300,000 jobs.
