Safety and housing become central themes in the fight for Delhi University student union

The elections for the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) have focused attention on issues of student accommodation and safety, especially following the tragedy at the Satya Niketan hostel. The ABVP association has submitted its nominations, while rivals have made affordable housing one of the key points of their platform.

The fight for DUSU is taking on characteristics that extend beyond the campus, touching upon questions of where and how thousands of students live. On Thursday, the ABVP association filed applications for seven prospective candidates and intensified its work ahead of the elections.

After submitting the applications, the prospective candidates from ABVP declared their determination for 'No more Satya Niketan.'
