Rajit Punhani, head of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), announced on Thursday that following the receipt of nearly 2000 criminal convictions in food safety cases across the country, FSSAI is beginning to strengthen control measures.
The new measures include holding e-commerce platforms accountable for goods sold through them, as well as proposing stricter actions against high-fat, high-sugar, and high-salt (HFSS) products near educational institutions.
