The UAE Artificial Intelligence Office, in collaboration with Google Gemini, has introduced free annual access to the 'Google AI Plus' plan. This plan allows university students to use Google Gemini, as well as other artificial intelligence-based tools and technologies.
This move aligns with the UAE government's efforts to equip students with modern digital skills and tools, and to prepare a generation capable of effectively and responsibly utilizing the growing capabilities of AI. This contributes to building national potential and enhancing the readiness of young professionals for future demands.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, emphasized that the UAE leadership maintains a proactive vision that places humanity at the center of its path to the future. This is achieved through sustained investment in providing new generations with knowledge, skills, and opportunities that enhance their readiness to participate in development and strengthen the UAE's position as a global model in foresight and shaping the future.
He noted that the upcoming phase requires a shift from simply using AI tools to developing a deeper understanding of how to apply them responsibly in education and research.
Al Olama confirmed that providing students with the latest models and tools, along with developing their skills in using them, fosters a culture of continuous learning, research, and innovation. This enables them to broaden their knowledge horizons and develop new solutions, strengthening their role in creating an AI-driven future.
'Google AI Plus' provides students with a suite of AI tools to support their studies, research, and content creation. These include the 'Gemini' application with the latest AI model, as well as tools for organizing sources and information, summarizing academic materials and literature, and preparing scientific papers. Access to the plan is available via the link (goo.gle/studentoffer26-uae).
Benefits also include AI-powered tools for generating images and videos, in addition to 'Gemini Notebook,' which allows students to interact with academic materials and sources, create summaries, and utilize interactive audio content, while also providing 400 GB of data storage space.
As part of the collaboration between the AI Office and Google, a series of virtual and in-person training programs will be organized for university students. The goal of these programs is to develop skills in using 'Gemini' and 'Gemini Notebook' for study and research, as well as promoting responsible practices in the use of AI technologies.
Through partnership with global technology institutions, the UAE continues to strengthen an integrated ecosystem for building AI capacity and solidifying its position as a global hub for developing and implementing advanced technologies, with a special focus on providing new generations with the necessary tools and skills to actively participate in the future economy.
The expansion of this program followed a high response to the initiative for university students last year, and this year it extends to a larger number of students in the Arab world.
The program allows registered university students in the UAE aged 18 and over to use the plan free of charge for a full year, provided registration is completed by December 31, 2026. This collaboration is part of the 'AI for All' initiative, launched by the AI Office and Google in 2024, aimed at expanding the scope of AI technology application, developing key skills in this area, supporting relevant research, and developing solutions and applications beneficial to various segments of society.
