The game 'Wolverine' ranks among the best titles available for the PlayStation 5 console. This game represents the fourth release from the American studio Insomniac Games, which belongs to Sony, in this console generation. Previous titles from the studio included Spider-Man: Miles Morales, released in 2020; Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, in 2021; and Spider-Man 2, in 2023.
Insomniac Games demonstrates great production capability, with its games consistently receiving praise. 'Wolverine' follows this tradition and is scheduled for release next Tuesday, the 15th, for the PlayStation 5. Although it is a relatively short game, with an approximate duration of 15 hours, it offers an exceptional experience among the best PS5 titles and action games in general.
Although some aspects of the game reference the Spider-Man series, 'Wolverine' does not adopt an open-world structure. It allows for some exploration in certain areas, but it is fundamentally a linear action game, intensely focused on combat. This fighting system is characterized by fluidity and satisfaction, something typical of Insomniac.
The game can be highly intense, especially when played in 'difficult' mode, which the text recommends. The battles are so well-crafted that they encourage the player to continuously seek new confrontations with enemies.
The character mechanics were carefully developed, combining an acrobatic and precise camera with intuitive and manageable controls. Furthermore, the character possesses special moves that can be used sporadically. Upon quickly eliminating multiple opponents, the protagonist enters a more aggressive state with enhanced powers, stimulating a more dynamic and fun style of play.
One negative aspect pointed out is the PS5 controller vibration with every movement of the protagonist, which can be considered excessive and tiring after a period. However, this feature can be disabled through the game's settings menu, while keeping other vibrations active.
Visually, the graphics are considered beautiful, and the game runs stably at 60 frames per second (fps) on the base PS5, according to testing. Although some elements of the environments show jaggedness or flickering due to upscaling (something the PS5, unlike the PS5 Pro, does not perform with AI), this detail is minimal and not bothersome.
The narrative is described as simple yet engaging, as it addresses dark themes and does not ignore the protagonist's alcoholism, which contributes to greater realism. The plot is presented through high-quality cinematic sequences (cutscenes) with well-executed animations integrated into the action.
It is concluded that 'Wolverine' has met expectations and, along with the Spider-Man franchise, should be listed among the PlayStation 5 classics. The release will occur on the 15th for the PS5, priced at R$ 399.90, and is also available in physical media for R$ 371 on Amazon.
