Ultraviolette, the manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, is launching its second production facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This new plant will have an installed capacity of 2.5 lakh units annually and is expected to create 2000 jobs.
The facility has been named BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory. It will provide the necessary infrastructure and production capacity to support Ultraviolette's next phase of growth both in the Indian domestic market and in international markets.
The factory is planned to produce Ultraviolette's Tesseract electric scooter, as well as other models from the company's portfolio, including Sports, Crossover, Cruiser, Street, and Scooters categories. The company stated in a release that the plant has the potential to be modernized and increase its annual production capacity to 500,000 units.
Co-founder and CEO of Ultraviolette, Narayan Subramaniam, noted that the company is at a turning point in its development. He emphasized that the past years laid a foundation based on technology, performance, and product innovation, and the next phase is focused on scaling up this foundation for further advancement.
He also clarified that the company's current plant, located in Bangalore, Karnataka, will continue its regular operations parallel to the functioning of the BIGGA Factory, thereby strengthening the company's long-term presence in manufacturing and technology in India.
The statement indicated that the Tamil Nadu government would assist in allocating the land parcel for the production complex in the SIPCOT industrial park in Shulgagiri.
The BIGGA Factory is designed as a modern production ecosystem that will integrate advanced digital systems, automation, and engineering quality standards to create a highly scalable and flexible manufacturing environment. A Manufacturing Execution System (MES) will be implemented at the plant to ensure real-time production tracking, supported by digital lean manufacturing and digital quality control systems.
Niraj Rajmohan, co-founder and CTO of Ultraviolette, stated that the BIGGA Factory will further enhance the company's innovative capabilities and contribute to establishing India as a global hub for electric vehicle manufacturing and technology.
Ultraviolette's main goal is to build Indian technology and EV manufacturing capabilities capable of competing on the world stage, as well as bringing its premium manufacturing solutions to markets around the world.
The company, founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, is supported by global investors such as Lingotto, TDK Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Zoho Corporation, TVS Motors, and Speciale Invest. Currently, Ultraviolette products are available in 19 countries.
