Smartphone Comparison: iPhone Duo at 300 Thousand Rupees vs. Galaxy Z Fold 8 at 180 Thousand Rupees

The foldable smartphone market is generating significant interest as many major companies introduce their models. Apple has also unveiled its first foldable smartphone. Although Samsung has traditionally been a leader in foldable device innovation, releasing its first Fold in 2019, this year Samsung presented the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Apple introduced the iPhone Duo.

Samsung has made substantial changes to its Fold lineup. The Fold 8 model features a changed screen aspect ratio, which helps reduce the amount of black bars at the top and bottom when watching videos on the foldable display.

Regarding the display, when unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is equipped with a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The outer display measures 5.5 inches and is also a Dynamic AMOLED 2X. An adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz is implemented to ensure a smooth user experience, significantly enhancing media consumption.

The camera system includes a 50MP main module and a 50MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, cameras on the outer and inner screens have a resolution of 10MP, allowing users to take high-quality photos and videos.

Performance in Samsung's foldable phones remains high even during intensive multitasking and gaming, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and 12GB of RAM, ensuring fast and smooth response.

The starting price for the Samsung Z Fold 8 is ₹1,79,999.

Apple's first foldable phone was long a topic of discussion, and that wait has ended with the release of the iPhone Duo. The design and dimensions of this device differ from previous models.

In the iPhone Duo, when opened, it uses a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, present both inside and outside. The outer display is also made with Super Retina XDR OLED technology and measures 5.4 inches. A blurring animation is implemented upon opening and closing the phone, which enhances the foldable device experience. A 120 Hz ProMotion refresh rate is installed to improve display quality.

As is customary with iPhones, photo quality is a strong point. The iPhone Duo is equipped with a 48MP main module and a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 12MP camera is provided for selfies.

Performance is ensured by Apple's A20 Pro chipset, which allows for easy execution of complex tasks and provides good performance in games.

Apple has launched its first foldable iPhone at a price of around ₹3 lakh.
